Creation of scientific temper in the people is an important element of the National Science Policy. The formal education attempts to improve the science education and curriculum. This would help in stimulating innovative skills and entrepreneurial talent. To encourage these much needed complementary activities, Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission has launched a scheme Science and Innovation Activity Centres to take full responsibility of operating such centres on a long term and sustainable basis. These centres would cater to the students of other schools of the adjacent region.
